Abstract

Endoconidioma is an endoconidial coelomycetous fungi typified by E. populi. During a survey on the saprophytic, endophytic and parasitic fungi associated with grapevine and walnut trees in Kurdistan Province of Iran, some 500 isolates oftenly belong to ascomyceteous fungi were collected. Isolation and purification were done using single spore method or by transferring pieces of disinfested symptomatic or asymptomatic tissues to half-strength potato-dextrose agar (1/2 PDA). The D1/D2 domain of 28S rDNA (LSU) was amplified using the primers NL1 and NL4 for some strange isolates. In a blast query of the sequences it is revealed that a set of saprophytic isolates with the same morphology are belong to Endoconidioma and our isolates showed 99% similarity with E. populi. For characterizing of the isolates at the species level sequencing of ITS regions is a necessary that is under progress. To our knowledge, this is the first report of Endoconidioma species from Iran.
