Abstract

One of the best energy sources in the world is solar energy. It is widely used for drying of agricultural products. Solar flat plate cabinet dryers are the most favourite equipments used for fruit drying. Properly designed solar drying systems must be taken into account for drying requirements of specific crops, energy efficiency requirements and cost-effectiveness. Simulation is an important tool for design and operation control, which makes it possible to find the optimum design and get the maximum energy. In this study a 3D CFD model was used to simulate temperature and air velocity distributions in a flat plate collector. The results illustrated a very good correlation (0.98
