Cracks in concrete structures can indicate major structural problems and detract from theaesthetic view of construction. Crack width is a parameter of the most practical significance for the design and assessment of reinforced concrete structures. This investigation deals with the prediction of instantaneous flexural crack width for the reinforced concrete beams. An analytical model is proposed to predict the flexural crack width. The validity and accuracy of the proposed model are verified by comparing the predicted width of cracks with those measured by other investigators. It has been shown that the crack widths calculated using the analytical model are in good agreement with the exprimental observations.
