Abstract

The aim of this research is the study and an interpretation of stream sediment data to identify the anomalies points in the Saqqez, Baneh and Alut areas which are situated in the northwest Iran and in the border of Iran and Iraq. Around 2000 stream sediment samples which have collected and were measured by the Geology survey of Iran were used in this study to identify some possible anomalies for Au, As, Ag, Cu and Hg. To highlighted the anomalies points different methods such as statistical analysis for univariate and multivariate, elemental correlation, factor analysis, mean, standard deviation and fractal analysis such as concentration number (C-N), multifractal modeling have been used to delineated anomaly thresholds from the background. Based on the different methods, anomalies points were detected in the different areas. The single and multi-elements maps were prepared which show overlapping for Au, As, Bi and B in the south and west of Saqqez. The elements were classified based on correlation coefficient, cluster analysis and factor analysis. In this study, some elements such as Ag-Zn (R2=0.436), As-Sb (R2=0.598), As-Pb (R2=0.432), As-B (R2=0.480), Au-W (R2=0.563), B-Zn (R2=0.448), B-Bi (R2=0.511), Bi-Zn (R2=0.412), Cu-Zn (R2=0.477), Pb-Zn (R2=0.499) are showed moderate correlation coefficient and in the cluster analysis methods Ag, Bi, Hg, Mo and Sb are having classified as a single group. Finally, we suggested a few areas as a high potential for future poly-metal deposits in northwest Iran.
