A simple and interesting route to the synthesis of some dimeric quinazoline-4-ones has been reported. The ring closure reaction of anthranilic acid derivatives Shief base 3 in the acidic solution of potassium cyanate in PEG proceeds to the synthesis of compounds 4 with good yields and simple work-up.
