Abstract

This study examined transdiagnostic factors in women with Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS), Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), and a non-clinical control group. 150 female students were selected through purposive sampling and grouped via clinical interviews and a screening tool. The Anxiety Sensitivity Index, Distress Tolerance Scale, and Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale were administered. Results showed higher anxiety sensitivity and greater emotion regulation difficulties in PMS and PMDD groups, especially during the luteal phase. Menstrual cycle phase significantly affected emotional functioning. These findings highlight the role of transdiagnostic factors in PMS and PMDD and their value in prevention and intervention.
