Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and Internet of things (IoT)-based systems will play a bigger and bigger role in our everyday lives in the near future. Indeed, we are well on the way towards a hundred of billions-sensor market. Therefore, it is predicted that WSNs and IoT are becoming a ubiquitous part of our lives in homes, vehicles, traffic, food production and healthcare, monitoring and controlling our activities. Clearly, a crucial part in this development is played by low-cost, resource-efficient and intelligent solutions in sensor network development which are all discussed in this workshop according to the following agenda: Background Scope of the Work Problem Statement and Objectives MATLAB-based WSN Models Energy-Efficient Strategies Learning and Nature-inspired Algorithms Simulation Results Discussion and Conclusions
