A one-dimensional, steady state model of methane partial oxidation was developed in a dual membrane reactor. The dual membrane reactor consists of an oxygen membrane and a hydrogen membrane. The dual membrane reactor was compared to other type of reactors. Effects of operating conditions like inlet temperature, pressure, and feed composition on methane conversion and hydrogen production yield were investigated. The results showed that in a dual membrane reactor with a suitable length, there is no problem of the hot spot formation and high hydrogen production yield can be obtained.
