Short contact time partial oxidation of (SCPO) CH4 to synthesis gas over %1.5 Pt/Al2O3 catalyst was investigated. Cordierite honeycomb monolith was used as a substrate and have been coated with sol-gel catalyst made of Pt nano particles dispersed on alumina. The aluminum monohydroxyde (bohemite) sols were synthesized by hot hydrolysis/peptization of an aluminum alkoxide (Yoldas process). Techniques like X-ray diffraction (XRD), BET, TPR, SEM, and TEM were used for characterization. Catalytic activity data were collected by feeding CH4/O2/N2 gas mixture, at varying temperature (600°C to 900°C) and residence time (4-12 milliseconds). Results showed high selectivy toward synthesis gas and stable performance over the catalyst.
