Abstract

The honeybee is an economically important insect worldwide. In addition, honeybees pollinate the most crops. Because of the need to control a wide variety of agricultural pests with insecticides without hurting beesthe study of pesticide effects on honeybees is vital. To evaluate the impact of these pesticides, oral toxicity testing of pesticides on Apis mellifera was performed for six concentrations and a control. The honey bees were treated with 25% sugar solution, in controls without pesticides and sugar solution treatments mixed with different concentration of pesticide. The tests were performed in a dark room at 25-30 °C and 45-55% relative humidity. Our results showed that Fenpropathrin with LC50= 0.54 and 0.29 ppm had the most toxicity of honeybees at 24 and 48 hours respectively. In addition, Pirimicarb and Copper oxychloride had intermediate toxicity. Data was analysed by Polo-PC software.
