In order to find somaclonal variability in the new strawberry varieties and hybrids, 12 somaclones were studies in comparison with initial genotypes according to 41 morphological and physiological characters. Experiments were conducted in 2002-2003 at the Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy. They have shown possibility of rapid wide scale propagation of the new important strawberry varieties like Bogema, Govorovskaya, Vechnaya Vesna, Mamochka, Rus, Snezhana, Rannaya Plotnaya etc., using microclonal approaches without risk of the initial genotype disappearance.
