روند تشکیل گروه شیمی در دانشگاه کردستان گروه شیمی در سال 1355 با پذیرش 30 نفر دانشجو دبیری شیمی در دانشکده تربیت دبیر سنندج شروع بکار نمود (( در آن زمان دانشکده تربیت دبیر سنندج یکی از دانشکده های دانشگاه رازی کرمانشاه بود )) در سالهای 58، 57، 56 هر سال در یک نوبت مهر 30 نفر دانشجو پذیرش کرده است.
